The hike to Rouvas Forest is a beautiful and adventurous route located on the South slopes of Psiloritis (Ida) mountain. This hiking trail offers hikers a unique opportunity to explore both natural beauty and the rich biodiversity of the area.

Rouvas Forest is a beautiful area known for its dense forests of black pines and unique Cretan flora and fauna.  Once you arrive at Rouvas Forest, you can explore its shaded trails, picnic areas, and natural beauty. The forest is part of the larger Psiloritis Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO-listed area.

The hike takes you through diverse landscapes, including valleys, gorges, and forests. You’ll have opportunities to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the distant sea. The area is rich in wildlife, and hikers might encounter various birds, butterflies etc.

The trail typically takes about 5 hours in total (up and down), depending on your pace and the time spent enjoying the scenery. There are some ascents and uneven terrain, but the path is accessible and generally considered moderate.
