Overview
The Rouvas Forest is located on the southern slopes of Psiloritis above the village of Zaros. This is where our hike begins. On an ascending route, the path passes through the gorge of Zaros where we will be able to admire impressive high walls, lush vegetation and its terrain that has been “carved” for years by the water. We end up in one of the largest forests of holm oaks in Crete, the Rouvas Forest, which is known for its rarity in tall centuries-old trees but also in other endemic species of flora and fauna.
The hike has a total duration of about 5 hours, including 1 hour stop in the forest where we offer you coffee and snacks (4 hours hike, 1 hour stop).
