What’s the answer against the intense summer heat? But, river trekking of course! And where, is the next question. In the most cool place in the Cretan countryside, the only river with running water all the time of the year, in Kourtaliotiko gorge’s waterfalls!
If we could show only by one photograph the meaning of the word exotic, the picture of the Kourtaliotiko’s waterfalls would be it! The waterfalls are actually the springs of the Kourtaliotiko river, a place of an extraordinary beauty, unexpectedly different from the surrounding and typical landscape of Crete. A place that is getting more and more crowded in the last few years, fairly we can admit. But we won’t stay here only to swim and admire all that beauty. We will continue through the riverbed so we can have the chance to enjoy the coolness of the river, some small points of swimming, dives inside into the cold waters and a few challenging passages which are waiting for us ahead. An ideal terrain for joy and fun but always with the maximum safety standards.
The activity ends at the middle of Kourtaliotiko gorge, there we will have the time to rest on a small cafe – restaurant to enjoy some refreshments and dry from the river’s water.
